The Institute of Mechatronics and Computer Engineering (MTI) was established in 2007 as a result of the restructuring in the Faculty of Mechatronics and Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies. The Institute has been joined by members of the former Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Control Engineering, Department of Electronics and Signal Processing, and Department of Software Engineering.
In the area of research and development, the Institute MTI covers the wide range of activities, from the research of piezoelectric materials and their applications, special applications of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and FPGA circuits; control of drives, technological processes, mobile robots, and production lines with industrial robots; advanced algorithms for control systems; and computer engineering in the areas of graphics, database systems, and microprocessor applications.
The Institute MTI provides teaching in all undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. study programs at the Faculty of Mechatronics and Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies and also at the other Faculties of the Technical University of Liberec, especially in the areas of control engineering, electrical engineering, and computer engineering.
In the area of international cooperation, the Institute MTI is involved in several European projects and in organizing the exchange stays of student and research workers at the partner universities and research institutes in Europe and in the world.
